Vacation fun

Finally I managed to find enough time to sit down and get the pictures together for a post about our vacation. It's not the posting, it's the waiting for pictures to upload.

The day we went to put-in-bay was an absolutely gorgeous day! The boat pictures from last Wednesday are from the boat ride to the island. Dylan loved riding the carousel. So did grandma, can you tell?

They also had a huge maze and the boys talked me into taking them into it. It was a lot of fun. We managed it in a whole 20 minutes. The boys even got prizes. Boy were they excited.

We also played miniature golf while we were on the island. Of course you can see that the boys were more interested in the water than playing golf. We had a really great day!

Dylan was very excited to be able to go fishing with grandpa. He even had his own fishing pole. Alex got to go too. Alex even caught a fish. Daddy was the assistant fisherman, because mom certainly wasn't going to do it.

During vacation Dylan also helped grandpa make french toast for breakfast on Sunday after church. My favorite part of the week was church on Sunday. We went to church on the pavilion looking out on the lake. It was an absolutely gorgeous Sunday morning! It truly felt like heaven on earth, singing hymns and taking communion looking out over the lake. Of course I have always felt that Lakeside was my own little slice of heaven.

We also celebrated grandpa and grandma's birthday's. I won't tell how old they are. We took them out to dinner to a Japanese steak house. Boy was that fun! Alex loved to watch the chef and was great at catching shrimp in his mouth. Dylan on the other hand was a little nervous since the chef kept pretending to toss things at him or squirt him. Dylan didn't think it was nearly as funny as the rest of us did. We actually had a cake for both birthdays, but I was holding mom's so there aren't any pictures, go figure.

We always go to the lake for the 4th of July and the boys have been in the bike parade since Alex was almost one and still in the stroller. So what if mommy's a bit too excited about the parade. All of the kids decorate they're bikes and get to be in the parade. This year it seemed like there were hundreds of kids. The boys think it's great to wave at all the people.

Grandma and Dylan always sit together and hide their ears from all of the sirens. Although this was the first time that D didn't get totally freaked out by the noice. Of course there was tons of candy and lots of cool "floats". The lakeside parade is usually mostly decorated golf carts, big surprise in Lakeside. I love the picture of the boys looking out on the lake waiting for the fireworks that never came. It was a little cool so Dylan laid down and covered up with a blanket. By the time he fell asleep they were beginning to announce that it was too windy to have the fireworks (at 10:15 no less), but that they would have them the next night. Of course by then we were on our way home. We considered telling Dylan that he had slept through them, but thought that might be a little mean. Alex did get to do some sparklers so he wasn't too upset.

So that's the story of our fabulous trip to lakeside. The best part is that we get to go back for another week in August and this time my brother and his family will be there. YIPEE!
