New Job - Big changes!

Today was my first day at my new job. Two weeks ago I was there all day 2 days, but I was helping in the adult day center. Learning how the day center works and seeing how things are run. It's a great facility and a fabulous program.

However, I'm going to be helping to lead the Jump start program. This is a program for seniors diagnosed with Early Alzheimers or other memory issues. Basically it's a 4 hour program 2 days a week. We do mental fitness exercises, puzzles, quizes, and lots of other activities to get their brains working in different ways and build new neuron pathways. It's a very exciting program and is really making a difference for the clients.

The long term goal for me is to start a class on Tues and Thurs at Holy Cross. We're still working on getting enough people to run the class so I'm working on learning the ropes.

I was just telling Mark though that it's going to take some adjustment for me to get the schedule down. I"m struggling with taking the boys to Summer Kids Inc., they love it, but I still have a little bit of guilt over the whole day care thing.

Then there's the trying to adjust to getting the stuff done at home that I usually do, getting to work on time, getting the kids to and from kids inc, and tennis classes. Yikes! What a day.

Then there's the usual stuff at the church and a few extra things. Lots of busy crazyness.

It's just gonna take me a while to get used to a new schedule and all the changes that go with it. Part of the challenge is that I'm working every other week for the first 6 weeks. It's feeling like life interupted. As soon as I get everything down everything changes. Oh well, that's life and eventually I'll get it figured out, or not so much, but hey what more can you do but try!

Now that I've gone on forever. Have a good day!

Last day of school

It's hard to believe the school year is over. Thursday was the last day. The boys are really glad for summer break. Me, well I'm not so excited. It'll be nice to have them home, but by next week I"m guessing they'll be fussing with each other. It doesn't take long for them to start.

Anyways, here is a picture of Dylan on Thursday, and one from his first day of school. I can't believe how much he's grown this year.

Both school wise and maturity wise. He loved his teacher and learned a ton.

And of course here's Alex on Thursday.
I swear he's grown several inches this year. It's hard to believe how much he's changed.
He also had a fabulous year! He's become quite the popular kid with the other boys. Everybody wants to have Alex over to play.

Thursday was a great at school. The kids got their yearbooks and the whole school took an hour to walk around and get them signed by all of the teachers and students. They had a blast. What a way to end the year.

End of Year Party

On Tuesday, Alex had his end of the year "picnic". I put picnic in quotes because it was rainy so the picnic was in the classroom.

They had their picnic food, and then it was time for the games. We changed them a bit for inside, but the kids still had a blast. (Although I think they got a little loud for inside, but who learns in the last week?)

This game was the animal relay race. They had to race like several different animals.

This was the seal part.

Then there were the snakes. It was so funny to see them all crawling around on the floor.

Then there was the caterpillar race. In this one they grabbed the feet of the person in front of them and had to maneuver through the maze of the desks.
I think there was more laughing then scooting on this one.

And the other game was the under over game. Much more fun with water, but still fun. Of course the challenge was getting the kids to remember whether they were going over or under each time. Again, lots of laughing and screaming to be heard.
All in all it was a good picnic, even if it was indoors. And it was a fun way to end my time as head room mom in Alex's class.
