Dylan's big weekend!

What a weekend it was! Mom and dad came up on Friday for the weekend. Both boys got a great surprise when grandma showed up in their classrooms. She got to read in Dylan's class and worked with some of the kids in Alex's class. She really enjoyed getting to spend some time in each class and they loved getting to show her what they do.

On Friday afternoon Brian Marcella and Cole came up. Dylan got some new Star Wars books from Aunt Deanna and enjoyed having Grandma read them to him and Cole.

Birthday cake time.

This year for the first time I caved and let Dylan have a party somewhere other than at home. We went to a bowling alley.

Dylan and some of his friends waiting their turn.

We had several lanes so the grown ups got to bowl as did Alex and Cole (on their very own lane). Here are Cole and Dylan with Grandma.

Dylan and J. making sure the balls are all in the right order.

And all the boys for a group picture. Can you tell it was a wild party. Boy was I glad we weren't at home. It would have been way too crazy.

Before we left all the kids (yes that includes grandma) got a chance to play some skee ball.

Even Cole got a chance. This was his first time trying it out. It reminded me of when my boys were too little and couldn't get the ball to the top.

Oh and Missy went home on Sunday. Missy and Tucker had a stand off on Sunday.

I don't think they were very happy with each other.
Although my cats have been fussing at each other ever since. So I think they miss her, at least a little bit.

Dylan wanted me to post pictures of his new lego ship that he built last night. It was one of the hardest he's done yet, but he got it together.

All in all it was a great weekend. Lots going on, lots of fun. And hey, I broke a 100 in bowling on my only game. ANd that was with worrying about 7 boys, and 1 girl.

Happy Birthday Dylan!

I can't believe my baby is 6 years old today! He has grown up into such an amazing kid. I don't brag on him often enough, so I"m going to endulge. Dylan has such a bright personality. He's nearly always happy and bubbly. Of course, that's also what drives me crazy, because he's also always moving and excited.

Brand new Dylan. Isn't he cute!

Last year, Dylan had a really rough time in school and I've really been worried since then, but I had a conference with his teacher last week and boy have I been worried for nothing. He is completely thriving this year. Since Christmas his reading has really improved. He's gone from a level B to E. His writing has improved as has his math. Mrs. H said that he is really doing a great job. She also said his confidence is really improving. He got a glowing report from her. What a blessing.

Here's 1 month old Dylan sleeping. Doesn't he look peaceful.

two months old and already the smile that melts moms heart.

You can already see the imp that he's going to be. Just look at those eyes.

Dylan turns 2 and boy does he love soccer.

Mom's goofball or is he just sleepy.

Dylan turn five and look at the cool new toy.

Dylan is such a sweet goofball. It's rare to get a good happy picture of him. I frequently get the top of his head or a funny face. This is my favorite picture, but the only reason I got it was that he was showing off his lizard shirt.

Here is my all grown up 6 year old boy. He loves wearing ties to church and boy does it make him look like a big kid. Happy Birthday little monkey. I love you.

Tackle it Tuesday - our bedroom

It's been an eternity since I actually did a Tackle it Tuesday.

This project has been a couple of weeks in progress.

This lovely red chair was my great grandma's ? Or something like that. Anyways, its old, really old and the red doesn't quite fit my decorating style, so enter the thought, I'll just redo it. Famous last words.

Actually this one wasnt so bad.

First we have all the in progress pictures.

So, generally I made a huge mess in our bedroom.

Check out the difference. You'd never know it was the same chair.
I love the way it turned out. And it's really comfy to sit in and read. Which is why I redid it instead of getting a new chair.
However, as always one thing led to another. I have always, always hated the color of our room. Mauve is so not my color. So, as long as our room was a mess, I figured why not just paint. So, we painted the ceiling (a necessity since the last paint job tended to work it's way up onto the ceiling).
We went for a two tone look. The two tall walls, a darker green and the long walls a lighter green.
Isn't it lovely with mauve and green. Yuk!

Here are the finished pictures. I used all of our same pictures and decorations, just moved them around some. I just love the way it looks, and feels now. Very restful.
